Watch for plate fees, rush charges, obsolete inventory on a failed SKU, storage for 5,000+ units, and redesign penalties. A low per-unit quote on 10,000 bags can lock more cash than a slightly higher quote on 200 test units.

Corrugated mailer boxes and simple paper wraps often have the lowest unit cost at small quantities. Food-grade flexible pouches cost more per unit because of laminate barrier film and sealing — but they are usually required for shelf-stable snacks, coffee, and pet treats.

At very high volumes (50,000+ units), traditional offset printing does become cheaper per unit. ZentPak is optimized for 100–10,000 unit runs where digital printing eliminates setup costs and minimum waste. At 100–5,000 units, our total cost (including $0 design fees) is almost always lower.

No setup fees for digital print runs. If you require custom dielines (new bag shapes not in our standard library), there may be a one-time tooling fee — we quote this before any commitment.
